Discover all that Vernon has to offer during the Winter Season!
Head into the woods and be one of the Nordic tourers and telemarkers who make their way through 100 km (62 mi) of trails at Sovereign Lake and SilverStar Mountain Resort. It's cross-country skiing that will take your breath away.
Try your hand at snowshoeing. It's easy and affordable and if you can walk, you can snowshoe. The trail system at Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre is perfect for novices and experts. Hikers can challenge themselves by snowshoeing the BX Creek & Falls Trail or the Longacre Trail. Need snowshoes? Not to worry - you can rent then at Sun Country Cycle and Stussi Sport.
When Vernon's mountain biking season ends, fat biking begins! Fat bikes are mountain bikes that are made for riding in the snow. Getting their name from the wide tires, fat bikes are simply mountain bikes made for riding in the snow. You can rent fat bikes at SilverStar and Vernon's bike shops.
Snowmobiling in Vernon is a big thing. In fact, there are close to 200km of snowmobile trails in the area! Bring your own snowmobile or rent one, and then blast your way across frozen lakes, through open meadows, and up and around Vernon's snowy trails.
Of course, there's always skiing! Downhill and cross-country skiing are two of the best ways to enjoy our winter wonderland. Whether you love swooshing down the slopes through deep powder, or trekking through the forest with your family and friends, we have acres and acres of tamed wilderness for you to enjoy at SilverStar Mountain Resort. After a day of skiing there’s so much more to do at SilverStar. Head out for a game of pond hockey, feel the wind in your face as you and the kids swoosh down the hills from the seat of an inner tube or try something a little different and take a horse drawn sleigh ride through the snow.
For those who love heli-skiing, Predator Ridge is the base for Kingfisher Heli. Helicopters will run twice daily between 8:30 am and 9 am for load up and return to Predator Ridge between 3:30 and 4:00 pm.
