We are extremely disappointed to announce that some events have been cancelled for Vernon Winter Carnival 2022. This was a very tough decision for all event holders, but due to the changing nature and spread of COVID-19 this decision was made in an effort to minimize the potential risk to staff, members and our community.

There are a number of different options for the cost of your ticket purchase:
1. Exchange your tickets for another Vernon Winter Carnival Event ticket
2. Exchange your ticket purchase amount for Vernon Winter Carnival Raffle tickets - prizes can be viewed here:
3. Request a full refund for your ticket amount

Feel free to contact us directly at Vernon Winter Carnival, our staff will be reaching out to ticket purchasers starting today as well.

Carnival Now Accepting Applications for Grade 12 Scholarship

For over 61 years Vernon Winter Carnival has offered a unique winter experience that is inclusive to all. We strive to bring our community together through fun events and activities that keep us connected through shared experiences.

In partnership with The Stor-it Place – a long-time supporter of the festival - Vernon Winter Carnival is once again asking Grade 12 students to submit a short essay about the impact Vernon Winter Carnival has had on their life. Applications must be submitted to Vernon Winter Carnival no later than Feb 7th at 5pm. Recipients of the Scholarships will be announced Feb 11th.

Two Scholarships in the amount of $500 will be awarded.

Last year more than 19 students applied for the scholarship sharing their personal experiences with Vernon Winter Carnival. The essay’s from last years recipients can be found in the VWC Brochure available throughout the city or online here:

"We love any opportunity to engage our future generations with the festival and to hear how Vernon Winter Carnival has been a part of people’s families and their traditions." Says Vicki Proulx, Executive Director at Vernon Winter Carnival Society.

to two local Grade 12 students. Investing in our youth’s continued education and the spirit of
Vernon Winter Carnival is what community is all about.” Says Kim Wallace, General Manager of The Stor-It Place.

The criteria:
Submit 1-2 pages (minimum 500 words)
Topics can include:

  • Favourite Vernon Winter Carnival Experience
  • Why you think Vernon Winter Carnival is important to our community
  • How Vernon Winter Carnival has impacted traditions in your family

    Application Deadline is Monday Feb 7th, 2022 at 5pm
    Recipients will be announced during Vernon Winter Carnival Feb 11th, 2022.

All events held during Vernon Winter Carnival will take place under the most current Public Health Orders from the PHO and under the guidance of Interior Health.

VWC 2022 Event tickets on Sale Friday Dec. 3rd!

The 62nd Annual Vernon Winter Carnival is less than 3 months away and events tickets are going on sale this Friday Dec. 3rd! Vernon Winter Carnival – presented by Valley First – runs Feb. 4-13, 2022.

The goal for 2022 was to bring back beloved in-person events and introduce some new and exciting features to the festival. “The response from the community has been overwhelming! This is the most events we’ve ever had registered for Vernon Winter Carnival” Says VWC Society Chair Erik Olesen.

The festival will host over 150 events throughout the 10 days of Carnival, all of which will follow the most current health orders from the PHO. 53 of those events are hosted by Vernon Winter Carnival directly and the remainder are third-party events, hosted by a variety of local businesses and organizations.

“We are thrilled to see the return of many beloved Carnival traditions, such as the Snow Sculptures at Silver Star, the 50th Annual Coca-Cola Classic Peewee Hockey Tournament, and the 61st Annual Carnival Parade, just to name a few.” Says Executive Director of Vernon Winter Carnival Vicki Proulx. “We want to invite all community members to embrace winter and have Snow Much Fun this February!”

**COVID-19 Info** some event tickets including Sip & Savour (formerly Suds N Cider) and the Parka Party at Predator Ridge will not go on sale until indoor capacity limits have been lifted in the Interior Health Region. Please check for COVID-19 related updates.

Carnival 2021 Scholarships Awarded

For more than 60 years, Vernon Winter Carnival has celebrated all that is winter in the North Okanagan. At its heart, Carnival is all about celebrating community: the uniqueness, the people, and traditions in Vernon.

In partnership with The Stor-it Place – a long time supporter of the festival - Vernon Winter Carnival has awarded two Grade 12 students with a $500 Scholarship. Students were asked to submit a short essay about the impact Vernon Winter Carnival has had for them personally.

19 Entries were submitted in total, sharing dozens of personal and memorable moments from Vernon Winter Carnival.

The successful recipients are:

Kayla Zimmermann – Kal Secondary
Robert Yacovelli – Seaton

"We know that Vernon Winter Carnival has had a lasting impact on this community, and it was amazing to read how it is still influencing and affecting our youth. Carnival truly is a unique event that has spanned generations of family members and this project really helped to show the impact it’s had on our community." Says Vicki Proulx, Executive Director at Vernon Winter Carnival Society. “Thank you to The Stor-it Place who initiated this project, and gave us the idea to bring a spotlight to the individuals who love to participate in this 61-year-old community event.”
